Molletes

Molletes are a simple yet incredibly satisfying Mexican dish, perfect for breakfast or a hearty snack. This traditional comfort food consists of bolillo rolls (Mexican bread similar to a baguette) cut in half and toasted until crispy. The toasted halves are then generously topped with refried beans and a layer of melted cheese, creating a warm, gooey, and flavorful treat.

Often garnished with pico de gallo or salsa for an added zing, molletes can be customized with additional toppings such as chorizo, avocado, or jalapeños to suit any taste preference. This dish is beloved for its combination of warm bread, creamy beans, and stretchy cheese, offering a delightful texture and taste that makes it a favorite among all age groups. Molletes are easy to prepare and provide a filling and nutritious meal option, embodying the heart and soul of everyday Mexican cuisine.
